Facebook Partners Ingressives to Train 150 Nigeria Developers

Facebook for Developers in collaboration with a technology integration firm, Ingressive have conducted a one day workshop and tech talk for 150 selected young Nigerian developers and tech start-ups.

During the full day workshop, trainers from Facebook Product, Partnerships, and engineering teams provided hands​-​on instructions through tech talks, code-labs and updates on latest Facebook products and services designed to help grow and monetise their businesses.

Speaking on the occasion​,​ the founder of Ingressive, Maya Horgan-Famodu, said that the initiative is part of Facebook and Ingressive’s commitment to supporting the tech​ industry​ and more specifically, developer community in West Africa.

“This year’s workshop provided developers and marketers the opportunity to learn about Facebook’s Platform Product tools and will focus on leveraging the Facebook platform to optimize acquisition, retaining and engaging users via Messenger, unlocking the power of analytics, and the future of monetization.”

She said her company was selected as a key partner due to its visibility in the developer community, stressing that the firm had series of network developer training programmes that keep developers updated.

“Ingressive recently launched Ingressive Campus Ambassador Program where one developer leader is nominated from every major university in Nigeria to train their peers, distribute swag, and work with us to identify needs of Nigerian students in engaging with technology. We have over 60 ambassadors representing universities across Nigeria.”

According to her, the 150 developers would also get relevant information on an open source, AI and product management for enhanced capability.

In her words: “We are building a developer community in every major university across Nigeria and providing them with the needed resources, social skills, among others. We also have a two-day High Growth Africa summit coming up in November. We also do monthly ecosystem hangout to bring together the developer community, among other various initiatives.”

He urged the developers to be focus for their solutions to be marketable and competitive, saying customers want solutions meet their immediate needs.

For the Director, Strategy, Ingressive, Saifudeen Edu, developers need to work on their skillset in order to compete favourably and market their products effectively.

“The open source, AI and product will be a massive training and resource hub that will help them develop the skill level, needs to be worked on for them to produce solutions that are competitive and marketable.” Businessday.
