Nigeria’s Oladapo Gets ITTF Merit Award, Re-elected Into BoD

Lagos  -   The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has honoured Nigeria’s Olabanji Oladapo with a merit award for his contributions to the development of the sport in Africa.

In a statement on Friday, ITTF President, Thomas Weikert, said that the award was presented to Oladapo during the federation’s Annual General Meeting in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Weikert said that the award was given to Oladapo for his commitment and support to the growth of table tennis on the continent.

Oladapo, the Vice President, ITTF Africa, was also re-elected into the ITTF Board of Directors (BoD) alongside seven others from Africa.

Oladapo, also a former Secretary-General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), will join 31 others across the globe in the BoD – the decision making arm of ITTF.

The others re-elected from Africa include Monqid  El-Hajji (Morocco), Ha Shun Hao Thyn Voon (Maurititius), Balla Lo (Senegal) and Thomas Kiggundu (Uganda).

The others are Andrew Mudibo (Kenya), Yusuf Joe-Carrim (South Africa) and Abdelrahman El-Sallawi (Sudan).

Weikert was elected the ITTF President.

The tenure of the BoD members is four years.
