FCTA Shares N2bn To Area Councils, Others

ABUJA, (Sundiata Post) – The Federal Capital Territory Administration has disbursed the sum of N2 billion to the six Area Councils in the FCT and other stakeholders as its share of statutory allocation for the month of April.

FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye made the disclosure on Tuesday in his office at Area 11, Garki, Abuja during the Joint Area Councils Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting said  Press Secretary, FCT Permanent Secretary’s Office, Tony Odey, in a statement.

The figure shows that the April allocation is higher than last month’s allocation by N80 million.

The breakdown of the allocation shows that Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) got the highest share of N169m while Gwagwalada received N165m and Kwali got N143m.

Similarly, Kuje Area Council received N142m; Abaji N141m and Bwari got N136m.

Statutory deductions from the release includes: Primary School Teachers’ salaries which gulped N998m and 15% Pension Funds equivalent to N95m.

Others are 1% Training Funds got N19m; and 10% Employer Pension Contribution received N73m.

Chairman of Kwali Area Council who is also the Chairman of ALGON, Hon. Shazin Joseph described the allocation as balanced and equitable.

He also commended FCT Administration for not taking a kobo from the allocations of the Area Councils.
